For speed you need to start thinking about a) how your creature moves around and b) how quickly it does that.
The following is a list of modes of travel: walking, flying, swimming, climbing, burrowing. If a creature can do one of these naturally (i.e. without a skill check), then you should give it a speed in that. Creature that require a skill check to climb a wall, or swim probably shouldn't have that speed listed.
Strength and dexterity will usually work together to give some indication of speed.
Typical speeds for various types of creatures are listed here:
| Small creatures | 20ft |
| Medium sized bipeds | 30ft |
| Quadrupeds | 30ft |
| Predators or fast creatures | 40ft |
If a creature is wearing armour then its modified speed should be listed with the type of armour inside parenthesis, followed by their unmodified score (e.g. Speed: 20ft. (scale mail), base 30ft.)
Fly speeds also have a maneuverability, perfect, good, average, poor or clumsy. Your average bird has average maneuverability. Perfect flight is usually magical or produced by a very small creature with fast beating wings. The higher the dexterity a creature has the better its maneuverability.
If you list a swim or climb speed then the creature should also be given a +8 bonus to that particular skill.
