Welcome to BlackSway's Unreal Editing Repository

04/Oct/2002 - UT2K3 Is Here! (In my hand!)
Well it finally arrived through my letterbox yesterday morning so I played it most of last night.

I have to say it is very impressive looking. I was particularly impressed by the intro movie, little things like the way the characters walked up the steps and turns around waving at the same time - very lifelike!

I've yet to delve into the plethora of editing facilities available, UnrealEd, UPainter, Maya etc but I'll let you know how I get on.

Match starting in 3... 2... 1... ! Go!

26/Jun/2002 - Epic UnrealEd Mod Summit (or other!)
There was recently a summit by Epic where they invited loads of people (not me!) to come look at the new Unreal Engine and the editor.

Here are two links detailing what went down and it gives some useful information about things in the new editor.

Night's Edge - Wet Works
Polycount at PlanetQuake

After a quick look things that look interesting are matinee objects, anti-portals, obviously static meshes, terrain, volumes and much more! I'll try and get some tuts up on some of it soon.

18/Jun/2002 - DeusEx LogicTrigger tutorial
Added a new tutorial under DeusEx, the rather simple looking but frighteningly complicated LogicTrigger.

15/Jun/2002 - Leaked UT2K3 Demo
In case your not aware there is a really crap demo for unreal tournament doing the rounds at the moment.
And believe me when I say it is really crap - there are no skins so everyone appears black (i.e. really hard to see!), half the user interface doesn't work, you have to manually change key in the user.ini file, their are bugs in some of the levels (like not being able to walk up stairs, through doors or just really bad HOM errors). Also all the sound effects appear to be straight out of UT, something I expect to be changing before the final release.

Having said all that, as a technology preview being able to catch a sneak preview of some of the levels, see the terrain engine in full effect and to witness some of the awesome level design that Digital Extreme have managed is worth it.

The all important thing though (for this site anyway) is the editor! Wow! Firstly it took a bit of hacking to get it working, but after that it was just inspiring to look at/wander around. Another update soon once I've had a chance to play more.

p.s. Can't wait for my proper copy of UT2K3 to arrive! Roll on the end of the month (and no delays!)

15/Jun/2002 - What do you want first?
Right, Unreal Tournament 2003 is out in the next few weeks, and I\'m updating
my site so I want to know what you guys want first. Do you want me to work
on extending my actor reference to include the new stuff in UT2, work on
extending the UnrealEd 2+ guide to include the new user interface, or just
work on various tutorials?

Let me know! e:mail me or go to the forum

10/Jun/2002 - Getting ready for Unreal Tournament 2003
Thats right, I'm getting the site ready for UT2K3 (or whatever you want to call it). I'm database converting the actors reference, the news page and maybe even the unrealed 2 guide.

I have UT2K3 on pre-order, should arrive towards the end of june. After that I'll be experimenting and updateing the unrealed guide where applicable. I may do some tutorials and then start working on new items for the actors reference.

As you may or may not know, UT2K3 will an enhanced version of the current editor - UnrealEd 2, for which my guide has been written.

check out the official Unreal Tournament 2003 web site for lots of lovely preview materials.

Also check out the Unreal Developer Network which will become THE site for using the new Unreal II engine.

03/Apr/2002 - Site Updated
In yet another moment of sheer bordem I updated the design of this web-site. And could I stress again that there are still people using the unreality site to access this one. Please update your links to www.blacksway.net/unreal.

Thanks

15/Feb/2002 - Quick Update
Along with the hosting move (the new URL is http://www.blacksway.net/unreal) I obviously have a new email address - sam@blacksway.net

You can still get to my site using www.unreality.dk/blacksway which just redirects here but the email doesn't work any more.

Also now I'm hosted I might set up several pages as being database driven so look forward to new features and updates.

30/Jan/2002 - Long time no update... and a little sideways movement...
Well the really observant of you might have noticed that Blacksway's has now moved. I've got my own domain and hosting which is just as well as unreality have just stopped hosting (actually a coincidence, but a good one)

Obviously we're all excited about the upcoming Unreal Warfare powered games, Unreal II, UT II and Duke Nukem to name but a few. In readiness for this I plan to overhaul the web-site and maybe update things a bit, we'll see...

Well, keep you're questions coming as I like to keep my hand in.

06/Jul/2001 - 2D Editor Error
This is really starting to get on my wick - so I'm after your help.

Basically there are quite a lot of people out there who when they try to use the Get Current Texture inside the 2D editor it crashes, and I want to know why!

I'm not exactly sure what would help me find out whats wrong but here's some stuff that might.

If after UnrealEd has crashed you could send me a copy of the following files: editor.log, unrealed.ini and unrealtournament.ini, and also tell me what operating system, browser version, UT patch and graphics card you have that would be a good start. Thanks in advance. e:mail me here

Edit: Pls dont send any more :_) I've given up on finding a solution to this problem!
